Field Staff Manager

Reporting to Managing Director SDOP

Key purpose of Role
To optimise the efficiency and productivity of the provision of labour to members of SDOP and to maximise service levels whilst working to a pre-agreed budget.
This is a “Hands on Role with 50% of the time chargeable to members.

Salary
Circa £18,000 p.a. plus some overtime

Key Roles

• Responsible for a team of supervisors (currently 3) and field workers (up to 70 at peak times)
• Ensure optimum productivity and quality levels for teams
• Ensure time recording systems are in place and up to date to enable efficient invoicing of labour services
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation
• Assist the MD in the planning, recruitment and selection of labour staff
• Motivation and disciplining of labour staff
• Ensure the appropriate welfare of staff e.g. provision of suitable accommodation for foreign workers
• Report to the MD on a daily and formal weekly basis
• Allocation of teams to meet member’s requirements
• Participate in field working (e.g. planting, weeding and harvesting) and leading by example (up to 50% of time)
• Obtain and collate feedback from members on team performance
• Conduct appraisals and reviews for labour staff.
